Digital Learning

Hwb

At St Andrews Major Church in Wales Primary School, we use Hwb, the Welsh Government’s secure digital learning platform, to support children’s learning both in school and at home.

All pupils are given their own safe and secure log-in to Hwb, which they use as they move through the school. Hwb provides access to a wide range of bilingual learning tools and resources that help children develop their digital skills and support their learning across the curriculum.

Children in Years 2 to 6 complete online reading and numeracy assessments using Hwb. These are called Personalised Assessments and help teachers understand each child’s progress and plan appropriate next steps in learning.

Parents and carers are asked to give consent for their child to access Hwb when joining the school. The platform includes familiar tools such as Microsoft Office 365, Google for Education, Hwb Classes and Minecraft: Education Edition. These are provided and funded by the Welsh Government, so there is no cost to families.

Hwb can be accessed safely at home as well as in school. For more information about Hwb and how your child’s information is used, please visit: https://hwb.gov.wales/privacy

Online Safety

At St Andrews Major Church in Wales Primary School, we want children to use digital tools safely, responsibly, and with kindness—reflecting our Christian values. We encourage parents and carers to support this at home by reminding children to treat others with respect online, protect their personal information, and speak to a trusted adult if anything worries them.
