School Improvement

At St Andrew’s Major, we are always striving to provide the best possible education for our pupils. Our School Improvement Plan sets out the areas we are focusing on to make the school even stronger and ensure every child can Respect, Believe and Achieve. 

School improvement is about looking closely at how we teach and support pupils, identifying what is working well, and planning changes to help us do even better. It is a way to make sure that we continue to improve standards, wellbeing, and opportunities for all children. 

We work in partnership with Welsh Government, local authority advisors, CSC, and Llandaff Diocese, and take every opportunity to learn from others and develop our staff. 

Our improvement plan is a live document and subject to change following evaluation.

TARGET 1 

To develop a highly effective curriculum

To strengthen pedagogical practices that enrich the curriculum and empower pupils to learn independently.

To enhance RVE learning and uphold the core Values and Ethos of our CiW School. 
Local Authority Equity Grant (LAEG) previously known as PDG 2025-2026 

The school received £25,186 for the 2025-2026 financial year.  This funding was used to ensure teaching assistants were able to support learners through: 

  • Precision teaching  

  • Literacy and Numeracy interventions 

  • Social and Emotional support
